Information about obtaining a Beer License

Beer_License_Application

For any on premise or off premise beer license, you must obtain an alcohol license from both the Utah State government and your local government before your business can sell alcoholic beverages.

Contact the Utah Division of Alcoholic Beverages Control. The state has its own requirements for issuing a beer or liquor license, and you will need both a state and local license in order to operate your business. You can contact the DABC at (801) 977-6800.

You will need a zoning approval from the Planning & Zoning Administrator.

The County Sheriff Department will do a background check before recommending approval of the license.

Once you have fulfilled all the requirements for zoning and have been approved by the Sheriff's Department, your application will go before the County Commission at a regular commission meeting for final recommendation. If you are requesting a class "C" license, you will notify the DABC that you have met all the requirements to be issued an alcohol license from the County.

The process of obtaining a Beer or Liquor License could take up to three weeks.

The fees vary depending on the classification of your license.

Your County license will expire on December 31 of each year and must be renewed by that date.
